In San Carlos Sonora, not only the white sand beaches attract millions of tourists but, in addition to the infinity of species marinas that turn the natural aquarium into a unique spectacle for divers, there is something for everyone and “El Soldado” estuary is the ideal area for nature and ecotourism lovers, as it is an ecological reserve rich in flora and fauna.
The esturary is a protected nature reserve that has been protected since 2006 and conserves species such as coyote,
white-tailed deer, wild boar, desert fox, birds, among others. For this reason, the entrance is controlled and upon arrival you will be able to visti the museum in which you will learn about species of animals and plants that are dissected, where they explain the importance of their care.
It is very important to know the regulations of the place since the life and conservation of this ecosystem depends on the good care of the visitors. It is a 322 hectare wetland that varies in three types: red, black and white and the four types of mangrove. Besides that in these they are around 425 species of animals and plants.
The visit to the estuary has the function of promoting environmental education through workshops, talks and exhibitions, which becomes an experience in which various activities are be carried out such as mountain biking, kayaking, hiking and bird watching. It is open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and has guided tours at 8:30 a.m.; 10:00; 12:00 and 13:13 hours.
